Longest Running Country Show Ever.

Bar Africa is the birth place of the ‘American’ Acoustic Country Sundays.

(HIBISCUS COAST) – 16 October 2009 – What does an African themed bar and restaurant and America's most popular music genre have in common?  Acoustic Country Sunday.  A family friendly show hosted weekly by American singer/songwriter/entertainer - JamesRAy.

“I've been told our weekly live acoustic show is the longest running show of it's kind in Auckland if not all of New Zealand,” says JamesRAy.  “The owners of Africa Restaurant, Bar and Function Centre and the supporters of the music have made Acoustic Country Sunday a regular 12-3pm event on their calendars for well over four years running.”

In the spring and summer the show is outside in an inviting courtyard full of family and friends that enjoy all the food and drink that the venue has to offer.  In the fall and winter everyone is comfortably inside with a cosy fireplace and the most hospitable staff anywhere...

When asked why she thinks Acoustic Country Sunday has proven to be so popular General Manager Tina says, “It's really a great combination of JamesRAy's high standards, style and personality to entertain an audience coupled with a friendly staff eager to serve quality food and drink in a spacious environment.  But I guess having said all that, it's really because it's the only show of its kind that pulls in the best bunch of loyal country music fans you could ever imagine.  I didn't even think I liked country music until I got to experience it this way, now I've gone country!”

Each week JamesRAy has a featured guest artist.  Local and international artists have been featured at the weekly event.

Mark your calendars for a very special treat over Labour weekend:  the annual JamesRAy Birthday Bash and Jam.  Many featured guest artists return for a fun filled day of music and celebration.  And, it's all FREE!

Bar Africa the birthplace of the one and only weekly Acoustic Country Sunday.  You can check out all the details at www.jamesray.co.nz  or call Africa Restaurant, Bar and Function Centre 09 414 5428.

OCTOBER 18, 2008.

Greetings All, I hope all is going well. I thought I would drop you a line letting you know about the dates of the Thrillbillies tour which is scheduled to kick off in late January of 2009.

I first met the Thrillbillies when they performed at the Huntly Workers Club in March of 2007. The Thrillbillies, Dave Anderson and Eddie Cox were at that time completing a mini tour and had played a number of venues around the North Island.

The promoter of the tour Max "The Snowman" McFarland had asked me to be part of the Huntly show and I was delighted at the prospect, and as it turned out I had an absolute ball.

Country fans around NZ need to know that the "Thrillbillies" are truly brilliant entertainers…Eddie has a beautiful tenor voice, not unlike Johnny Farnham and Dave is an awesome singer, guitar player and entertainer…. Together they present a fun, high energy show which combines the best in modern and classic country music with pop and rock hits from the 60`s, 70`s and 80`s they are also funny as Hell!!!

The Thrillbillies are so popular in the UK that they have been booked up for all of 2008 and have been unable to return to New Zealand until 2009. If you get the chance to see them when they return…you must, I guarantee you will love them. If you want to know more about the Thrillbillies have a look at their website.

Trevor V. Stevens and the 'Downunder Outlaw' Clark Reid are teaming up as a duo. They hope to play the Hokianga Country Music Festival in September 2008.

Trev says "I am so excited at the prospect of playing with Clark at the Hokianga Festival. Clark is a great singer, guitar player and entertainer. He loves the same kind of country music as I do. I am looking forward to sharing the stage with him and playing some of that good ole Kick Ass country music. Our application to play the Hokianga Festival has been sent to the organising committee and we really hope we get the opportunity to make this happen.

Clark Reid performs Hard Core Honky Tonk, and has entertained crowds both in New Zealand and overseas. His shows are real and exciting and most of all feature his own style and brand of hard core Honky Tonk.
