Howdy Trevor,
You are always a favourite with all our lady listeners. We have both of your albums close and handy as you often get requested, I also get a number of requests for you on my show every morning, "Dave's Truckin' Show" then twice a week with "Sandy's Request Hour" you get more requests than Dennis Marsh, I often try the waters and play a lot of Kiwi artists and see what songs and artists the listener likes. My trucking' show starts every morning at 4am to 7am, I do have the time to test the waters I live on the station property in country NSW, so I only have to go to the back door to the studio, no driving to the station, and Sandra is the same, as she lives with me.

Comments to the Artist: This CD is very good from the start to finish. It's good to get a CD that has no swear words or screaming on it well done, this is a credit to you Trev. Our listeners enjoy both your albums, and both are requested regularly. Trev you have a very nice easy voice, and a true country music voice, pity you went back to NZ you should have made your home in Australia where there is a demand for your music. Can’t keep my hands off you mate, you are one of the most requested Kiwi artists on our station - Australia loves you more than NZ, come back mate! Also great to see your photo on the cover of your latest album.
All the best for now,
Sandra McMinn in Aussieland.

Annette Mehrtens Heart of Country
(August 2006)

Hi Trevor, I received your albums this-morning, and they were on air in the afternoon!!!! Thursday is the day of my program so the timing was great. I will be honest with you and say - they are great albums. You have a great voice, and you know how to use it, and the backing was superb!!! I was not sure what to expect - as you can understand these days, after-all anyone can go and make a recording and I certainly receive some very mediocre ones at times. I thought you may be a bit too raunchy for my preference but found most of it very good, and not as (screaming guitar - drum bashing) as some are, who call themselves country music!!! They would be two of the better CDs I have received.

I would say again, you have a great voice, and I am pleased you teamed it up with good backing. That leaves you with a good product. If you ever plan to be down this way at any time get in touch. I can arrange to include you in one of my shows, or arrange a show to coincide with you being down here. I have yet to put these shows together so visitors with good talent will always be given a spot on the Show, usually a 20 minute bracket, with lots of promotion before hand on my program and newsletter etc. I see you are invited to appear on many shows up North and I am not surprised after listening to the albums.

Good luck with the new album, and the Shows ahead. If you plan to head this way anytime then please contact me.

Best Wishes and thanks for the albums Annette Mehrtens.

Review of live show (September 2005)

Countryangel writes "Last night, September 3, New Zealand's own Trevor Stevens performed live at the Awahuri tavern. He rocked the crowd with his powerful vocals and fantastic renditions of some of the greatest songs in country music.

Trevor's show was predominantly country rock, with a few classics and some beautiful ballads. His songs ranged from Johnny Cash and Glen Campbell, through to Alan Jackson and George Strait.

The whole show was fantastic but for me, the best song of the night would have to have been Alan Jackson's "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" which Trevor performed for the first time, live, last night. He also sang an outstanding version of Ricky Van Shelton's "Statue of a Fool".

Other songs performed, included John Michael Montgomery's "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)" and Tracy Byrd's much-loved single "The Keeper of the Stars".

Overall, it was an amazing night and a great time was had by all those who attended."

Trevor Stevens, Awahuri Tavern
(September 2005).

Using backing tracks, and playing his guitar, and with a great sound system Trevor rocked his professional way through numbers from his "Keeper of the Stars" album – including "Grundy County Auction", "I’m from the country", "Woman sensuous woman", and "Prop me up beside the jukebox".

Trevor looks good on stage, a tall man with cowboy boots and Stetson – and his strong voice has a pleasant country accent and he does justice to every song he sings with emotion, much passion and enthusiasm, all seemingly with the greatest of ease.

Obviously an Alan Jackson fan, Jackson’s songs figured in Trevor’s programme but he also paid homage to many country artists, to the country classics and included Folsom Prison, Rhinestone Cowboy and other oldies in his sets.

Trevor Stevens is a brilliant country singer and entertainer and a very nice person with it. Personally, he shows genuine interest in others and listens.

Trevor V. Stevens is the best reason why you should have been at the Awahuri Tavern on Saturday night. If you see that Trevor Stevens is singing at a place near you – go and support him, and hear one of New Zealand’s country music’s greats.

Ann Pascoe.
